Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You use Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 to establish an authenticated RSS feed. When you do this, this RSS feed successfully synchronizes in Outlook 2007 on the computer that is running Internet Explorer 7.

You then use a different computer that is running Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. This same RSS feed roams successfully in Outlook 2007 to the computer that is running Internet Explorer 6. You then delete the RSS feed.

Later, you want to re-create the RSS feed. In this scenario, you have to re-create the RSS feed by using Internet Explorer 7. If you try instead to re-create this feed on the computer that is running Internet Explorer 6, you receive the following error message:
Outlook cannot download the RSS content from http:\\Web site name because you do not have the required credentials.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because an RSS feed was created that requires authentication. This is not supported if you use Outlook to establish the RSS feed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, create RSS feeds on a computer that is running Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.
