FIX: The va_arg function returns an incorrect value in a Visual C++ 2005 application

SYMPTOMS

You use Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 to build an application. When you try to run the application, the va_arg function returns an incorrect value. This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The application is compiled for x64-based computers.
  • The code optimization feature of the Visual C++ compiler is enabled.

RESOLUTION

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it is only intended to correct the problem that is described in this article. Only apply it to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Visual Studio 2005 service pack that contains this hotfix.
