Microsoft has released security bulletin MS07-013. The security bulletin contains all the relevant information about the security update for Microsoft Office 2000, for Microsoft Office 2000 Japanese Multilingual User Interface (MUI), and for Microsoft Project 2000. This information includes file manifest information and deployment options. Note On Windows 2000 and on later versions of Windows, Office 2000 does not install the Riched20.dll file. Instead, Office 2000 uses the Riched20.dll file that is installed by Windows. In this case, you must apply both the Windows version and the Office version of MS07-013. If for any reason Office 2000 becomes the sole owner of Riched20.dll, the security update is cached in the %Windir%\Installer folder and can be used for maintenance.

When Office 2000 is installed on Windows 2000, Office 2000 uses the Riched20.dll library that resides in the %SystemRoot%\System32 folder in Windows. Office 2000 does not install any other copies of Riched20.dll.

On Windows 2000 systems, update 920906 for Office 2000 does not update the %SystemRoot\System32\Riched20.dll file because it is a Windows file. On Windows 2000 systems, you must install update 918118.
