After you upgrade Microsoft Office 2003 to Microsoft Office 2007, the Learning Essentials for Microsoft Office tools add-in program may be unavailable. Alternatively, the add-in does not function as expected.
Additionally, when you try to install the Learning Essentials add-in program on a computer that has Office 2007 installed, you receive the following error message:
"Learning Essentials can be installed only on computers with Office XP or Office 2003. To install Learning Essentials, you must have at least one of the following Office products installed; Word, Excel, or PowerPoint."
Finally, when you install Microsoft Student 2006 on a computer that has Office 2007 installed, the program installs without error. However, the Learning Essentials tools are unavailable in the following programs:
| • | Microsoft Office Word 2007 |
| • | Microsoft Office Excel 2007 |
| • | Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 |
The other components of Microsoft Student 2006 are present and functional.

This problem occurs because the Learning Essentials tools are incompatible with Office 2007. Learning Essentials was designed to work with the user interface that is used by Microsoft Office XP and by Office 2003. Learning Essentials was not designed to work with the newer user interface that is currently used by Office 2007.
