You may receive a "The connection file could not be accessed" error message when you try to open an InfoPath 2007 form

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create a Microsoft Office InfoPath 2007 form template that uses connection settings that are stored in a Universal Data Connection (UDC) (.udcx) file. You publish the form to a forms library that is hosted on a computer that is running Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services with Microsoft Office Forms Server 2007.

When another user tries to access the form from the form library, the user may receive the following error message:
The Internet address 'URL' is not valid
Additionally, the user may receive the following error message:
The connection file could not be accessed.

CAUSE

This issue occurs when a user who is not the owner or the creator of the UDC file tries to access the form and the UDC file remains checked out or is in a pending state.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that you check in or approve the UDC file so that the connection file can be accessed.
