InfoPath template part name is changed when you add the template part to another project in Visual Studio 2005

Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You create and then publish a new Microsoft InfoPath 2007 template part by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. You type a new name for the template part in the Save As dialog box. You then create a new project by using a blank form in Visual Studio 2005. When you add the InfoPath 2007 template part that you created earlier, the template part is named InfoPath Form Template instead of the name that you specified.

Note This behavior does not occur when you create the template part by using the stand-alone designer.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office System (VSTO) uses the Name value that appears in the properties of the InfoPath template part.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, you must enter a custom name in the properties of the InfoPath template part. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In Visual Studio, open the InfoPath template part project.
  2. On the Visual Studio menu bar, click File, and then click Form Properties.
  3. In the Form Properties dialog box, type a descriptive name in the Name box, and then click OK.
