You perform a query in the Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 (SMS) Administrator console. Then, you right-click a client computer in the results pane, and then click Install Client. In this scenario, the Client Push Installation Wizard does not appear. Additionally, other wizards such as Distribute Software and Distribute Software Updates may no longer function. When you close the SMS Administrator console, you receive an error message that resembles the following: __CMmfThread1____: mmc.exe - Application Error The Instruction at "0x153aa959" referenced memory at "0x01695b80". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to Terminate the program CAUSEThis issue occurs when you change an existing query in SMS 2003 to include an attribute class that causes a join in the query statement, such as the All Systems query. For example, you edit the All Systems query statement and add an attribute class such as Workstation Status, and then you add an attribute such as Last Hardware Scan. In this case, the query statement now includes a join statement. This may prevent the Client Push Installation Wizard and other wizards from appearing. WORKAROUNDTo resolve this issue, you can create a collection that is based on the query that includes the join statement. Then, you can use the Client Push Installation Wizard on client computers that reside in the new collection.
