Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.
When you run a query against a SQL Server 2005 database, the
query may take a long time to compile. Additionally, you may experience high
CPU utilization.
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
The query contains several JOIN clauses. For example, the query includes self
joins.
The JOIN clauses contain JOIN predicates that all refer to
the same column.
The same column to which all the JOIN predicates refer requires implicit or explicit data type conversion.
The same column to which all the JOIN predicates refer has
a histogram that contains a single value.
