FIX: When you try to create an application in Visual Studio 2005, the resulting application does not support ASLR

In Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, you try to create an application that uses Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR) in Windows Vista. When you do this, the resulting application does not support ASLR.

Note This problem does not occur in Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1).

This problem occurs because Visual Studio 2005 does not provide linker support for ASLR in Windows Vista.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1.

After you apply this hotfix, you can use Visual Studio 2005 to create applications that use ASLR. All components of the application must support ASLR for the application to use this feature.
