SYMPTOMS

When you run a Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Remoting application, you may receive the following error message:
Unhandled Exception: System.AccessViolationException: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
Additionally, this problem may occur in .NET Framework 2.0 Remoting applications on a computer that is running certain types of driver software or antivirus programs.

Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. How to uninstall the .NET Framework 2.0 hotfix

To uninstall the .NET Framework 2.0 hotfix, use the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type appwiz.cpl, and then click OK.
  2. Click to select the Show Updates check box.
  3. In the Currently installed programs list, click the hotfix that you want to uninstall under Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, and then click Remove.
Note Do not use a restore point in System Restore to uninstall the .NET Framework 2.0 hotfix. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

After you uninstall the .NET Framework 2.0 hotfix, repair the current version by using the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel. If you repair the current version, you make sure that files are updated to the most recent version.
