Update for Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2: Update to Exchange Server 2003 SP2

The initial release media for Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 contains the wrong version of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2). This update installs the correct version of the affected Exchange Server 2003 SP2 files.

Different versions for some of these files can be found in other folders on the server. For this update, only the installation folders in the following table apply.

Note This update applies to you if the version level of any of the following files is 06.05.7638.1. This update does not apply to you if the version level of all the following files is 06.05.7638.2.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Download and install update 923432 by using Microsoft Update or Windows Update. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Open a Web browser, and then visit the following Microsoft Web site:
      http://update.microsoft.com (http://update.microsoft.com)
   2. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
2. Read the latest release notes. The Exchange Server 2003 SP2 release notes that are included with the affected release of Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 are not the most current version. To obtain the most current version of the Exchange Server 2003 SP2 release notes, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

3. Install the latest Help files. The Exchange Server 2003 SP2 Help files that are included with the affected release of Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2 are not the most current version. To obtain the most current version of these files, install the Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Help update. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section of this article.

After you install this update, Exchange System Manager continues to display 06.05.7638.1 as the version level. This does not affect the functionality of the server. To determine whether the update is installed correctly, verify that the properties for the files that are listed in the table display 06.05.7638.2 as the version level.
