SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 and in Microsoft BizTalk Server 2004, you cannot configure the BizTalk host instance to use a Windows group name that exceeds 63 characters. This issue also occurs when you use Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) to set the MSBTS_HostInstanceSetting.NTGroupName property.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the maximum length of the MSBTS_HostInstanceSetting.NTGroupName property is 63 characters.

RESOLUTION

This issue is scheduled to be fixed in BizTalk Server 2004 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Note After you install BizTalk Server 2004 SP2, you can configure the BizTalk Host to use a domain and group name that contains a maximum of 120 characters.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, modify the Windows group name so the total number of characters in the domain name and the group name does not exceed 63 characters.
