An update to the Visual C++ Redistributable Package (VCRedist.exe) is available that adds support for side-by-side deployment of the Visual C++ runtime

An update to the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Package (VCRedist.exe) is available. The Visual C++ Redistributable Package is included in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. This update adds support for side-by-side deployment of the Visual C++ runtime.

By using side-by-side deployment, you can install multiple versions of the Visual C++ runtime on one computer. Therefore, you can test and run Visual C++ applications in multiple configurations.

Notes

• For side-by-side deployment, you should use the typical method to deploy the manifest files.
• This update applies to all builds of the Visual C++ runtime for x86-based computers, for x64-based computers, and for Itanium-based computers.
• Some platforms do not support side-by-side deployment.
• To deploy complex scenarios, you should use a solution that is more flexible than side-by-side deployment. For example, you should use Microsoft Windows Installer to deploy side-by-side versioning of runtime components.

The English version of this update has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time.
