Unsaved changes to a linked Visio 2007 drawing object are displayed in Word 2007 or in PowerPoint 2007

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You insert a linked Microsoft Office Visio 2007 drawing as an object in a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document or in a Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 presentation. You then edit the linked drawing object in Visio 2007. After you edit the drawing object, you do not save the changes that you made. Then, you exit Visio 2007. When you return to the Word 2007 document or to the PowerPoint 2007 presentation, the unsaved changes that you made are displayed in the linked image of the Visio 2007 drawing object.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the Visio 2007 drawing object.
  2. Click Update link.
If this issue still occurs after you update the linked Visio 2007 object, follow these steps:
  1. Right-click the Visio 2007 drawing object, point to Linked Visio object, and then click Edit link.
  2. Exit Visio 2007.
