Article ID:923700
Last Review:October 15, 2007
Revision:1.4

SYMPTOMS

When you save a Microsoft Office Visio 2007 drawing file as a Web page, some hyperlinks in the Web pages do not work. When you click a hyperlink, you may receive the following error message:
The page cannot be displayed

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
You add the hyperlinks before you save the Visio drawing file.
You select the Use relative path for hyperlink check box after you save the Visio drawing file.
You link to a file that is in the same folder as the Visio drawing file.
You save the Visio drawing file as a Web page in a different folder after you add the hyperlinks.
If these conditions are true, Visio 2007 does not use a relative hyperlink. Instead, Visio 2007 creates an absolute hyperlink to the files to which you want to link. An absolute hyperlink is a link in which a full file path is specified.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, follow these steps:
1. Create a drawing in Visio 2007. Then, save the drawing.
2. Select the shape in which you want to insert a hyperlink.
3.On the Insert menu, click Hyperlink.
4. Click Browse next to the Address box, and then click Local file.
5.Locate and then select the Web page to which you want to link, and then click Open.
6.Click to select the Use relative path for hyperlink check box, and then click OK.
7.Repeat steps 2 through 6 for each shape or text frame in which you want to insert a hyperlink.
8.On the File menu, click Properties.
9.Click the Summary tab, and then verify that the Hyperlink base box is empty. If there is an entry in the Hyperlink base box, delete the text, and then click OK.
10. Save the Visio drawing file.
11. Click Save as Web page, and then save the file in the same folder in which you saved the Visio drawing file.
