SYMPTOMSOn a Windows XP-based computer that has Microsoft Office 2003 installed, you run an application that uses the Active Accessibility Text Services APIs to retrieve the text that is being processed. When this application is running, the Winword.exe process crashes. Additionally, you may receive the following error message: Microsoft Office Word has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience CAUSEThis issue occurs because of an access violation in the Msaatext.dll file. This access violation occurs when the application uses the IAccClientDocMgr interface and the ItextStoreAnchor interface. WORKAROUNDTo retrieve the text that is being processed, use an application that is based on Microsoft Windows Text Services Framework. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
