INTRODUCTION

This article describes the Microsoft Office Excel 2003 issue that is fixed in the hotfix package that is dated August 7, 2006.

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:
  • Consider the following scenario. You open an Excel 2003 workbook. The workbook contains a worksheet that is set to calculate values manually. Additionally the workbook contains several worksheets that have calculations that depend on the values in other worksheets. You type a value in a cell and then press SHIFT+F9 to manually calculate the active worksheet. When you press F9 to calculate the open workbook, the worksheet is not recalculated. Additionally, the dependent worksheets are not recalculated. You must press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F9 to force a full recalculation.

You can install this version of the on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 or Office 2003 with Service Pack 1. However, we have tested this more extensively on Office 2003 with Service Pack 2 than on Office 2003 with Service Pack 1. If you install this on a computer that is running Office 2003 with Service Pack 1, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend it.
