A Visio 2007 drawing is truncated when you publish it as a PDF file

Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

You publish a Microsoft Office Visio 2007 drawing that is wider than 200 inches as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. When you view the published file, the drawing is truncated.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because of a limitation in the PDF file specifications that Visio 2007 uses. Visio 2007 saves a drawing as a PDF version 1.5 file.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:
  • Publish the drawing as an XML Paper Specification (XPS) document.

To do this, follow these steps:
    1. On the File menu, click Publish as PDF or XPS.
    2. In the Save as type list, click XPS Document (*.xps), and then click Publish.
  • Publish the drawing by using a third-party PDF program that is not limited to the PDF version 1.5 file specifications.

MORE INFORMATION

To publish a Visio 2007 drawing as a PDF file or as an XPS document, you must install the "Publish as PDF or XPS" add-in. To obtain the "Publish as PDF or XPS" add-in, visit the following Microsoft Web site and search for the download:
