You cannot import or update the data from an Excel workbook in Visio 2007

When you try to import or update the data from a Microsoft Excel workbook in Microsoft Office Visio 2007, you experience one of the following symptoms:

• The data is not imported. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
  Microsoft Office Visio cannot connect to this data source.
• The data is not updated. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
  Unable to connect to the data.

This issue may occur if the Excel workbook is open on a different computer when you try to import or update the data in Visio 2007.

Note Typically, this issue may occur if the Excel workbook is located in a network share that can be accessed by other users.

To work around this issue, close the Excel workbook before you try to import or update the data in Visio 2007.
