Article ID: 923923 - Last Review: November 5, 2007 - Revision: 1.3 Status messages are not sent to a Systems Management Server 2003 site serverSYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario:
CAUSEThis behavior occurs when the installation process is started manually. This behavior does not occur when the installation process is started by advertising an SMS package or by using an unattended file to deploy a new client operating system. Consider a scenario where the manual installation and the installation that uses an unattended file both sent status messages to the SMS site server. If this occurred, you would be unable to determine which type of installation was sending the status message. This could lead to incorrect or confusing status messages being sent to the SMS site server. STATUS
This behavior is by design. REFERENCESFor more information about performing an unattended Installation of an SMS 2003 OSD image, see the "Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 Operating System Deployment Feature Pack Users Guide."
