Error message when you use ActiveSync to synchronize e-mail between a Window Mobile-based device and Outlook 2007: "Information Type Not Synchronized"

SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft ActiveSync to synchronize e-mail between a Microsoft Windows Mobile-based device and Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, the synchronization process is unsuccessful. Additionally, you receive the following message in the ActiveSync interface:

Attention Required

If you click Resolve Items, you receive the following warning message:

Information Type Not Synchronized. Items of one or more information types cannot be synchronized. Disconnect and reconnect your device. To view all error messages and dialog boxes that require your input, you must connect to this computer via infrared or serial/USB cable.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 software for Pocket PCs is not installed on the Windows Mobile-based device. Outlook 2007 is supported only by Windows Mobile-based devices.
