SYMPTOMS

When you reverse engineer an Oracle database in Microsoft Office Visio 2007, the list of table names and view names in the Reverse Engineer Wizard contains garbled characters.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when you use an Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) source that is configured to use the Microsoft ODBC driver to connect to the Oracle database.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use an Oracle ODBC driver instead of the Microsoft ODBC driver.
