Symptoms
When you copy the text from a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document and then paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document, one of the following symptoms may occur.
Symptom 1
Text that is formatted with a theme in a Word 2007 document may not retain the formatting when you paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document.
For example, when the text in a Word 2007 document is formatted with the Civic theme, the text color is gray. When you copy the text from the Word 2007 document and then paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document, the text color changes to blue.
Symptom 2
Text that is copied from a Word 2007 document may unexpectedly retain the theme font association when you paste the text into a Word 97 - 2003 document.
For example, the text in a Word 2007 document is formatted with the following font and theme font association:

Cambria (Heading)
Cambria is the font. Heading is the theme font association. -
Calibri (Body)
Calibri is the font. Body is the theme font association.
When you copy the text from the Word 2007 document and then paste the text in a Word 97 - 2003 document, the theme font association for the heading font is unexpectedly retained. You expect that the theme font association is not retained when the text is pasted into a document that is not a Word 2007 document.
Workaround
To work around these issues, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation.
Workaround for symptom 1
To work around this issue when the formatting changes when you paste text in a Word 97 - 2003 document, click Paste Options, and then click Keep Source Formatting.
Workaround for symptom 2
To work around this issue when the association is unexpectedly retained, save the changes to the Word 97 - 2003 document. Close the document, and then reopen the document.
