MORE INFORMATIONTo resolve an environment variable such as %Systemdrive% or %Systemroot in a registry entry, the value type of the registry entry must be set to REG_EXPAND_SZ (expandable string value). However, if the value type of the registry entry is set to REG_SZ (string value), the registry entry is treated as a literal string. Therefore, if an environment variable such as %systemdrive% is set to a value type of REG_SZ, it is not treated as an expandable string value that resolves to C:\.
