You cannot log on to Project Web Access, and the following error message occurs after you apply Project Server 2003 Service Pack 2a: "Microsoft JScript runtime error 800a138f"

After you apply Microsoft Office Project Server 2003 Service Pack 2a (SP2a) to a computer that is running Project Server 2003, you cannot log on to Microsoft Office Project Web Access. And, you receive the following error message:

This issue occurs if the Project Server 2003 database was not upgraded.

To resolve this issue, upgrade the database.

Note We recommend that you back up the database before you apply any updates. If you do not upgrade the database, you may experience issues when you use Project Server 2003.

1. Download the ProjectServer2003-KB887621-SQLFile-ENU.exe file, or the equivalent file in the language that you want. This file is contained in the Project Server 2003 Service Pack 2a (SP2a) software update. To obtain this file, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

2. Double-click the file, and then extract the files to a temporary folder.
3. Open the folder to which you extracted the files, and then run Upgdb112.cmd against the Project Server 2003 database. If the database is a partitioned database, run the script against each Project Server 2003 database.
   
   To run Upgdb112.cmd, follow these steps:
   1. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
   2. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      Upgdb112.cmd name of the computer that is running SQL Server database name logon password
      If users are currently logged on to SQL Server by using Microsoft Windows authentication, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
      Upgdb112.cmd name of the computer that is running SQL Server database name
      Note If you do not enter the system administrator account logon name and the password, the command file will assume that you are using Windows authentication to log on to SQL Server. If you enter only the name of the computer that is running SQL Server, the command file assumes that the database name is "ProjectServer".
   Note To apply the ProjectServer2003-KB887621-SQLFile-ENU.exe file, Osql.exe must be in the same folder, or in the same system path, from which Upgdb112.cmd is run. If you are running Upgdb112.cmd directly on the computer on which the database resides, Osql.exe should already be present. This file is also available in the Support\Database folder on the Project Server 2003 CD.
