SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You publish a table in SQL Server 2005. The table contains a column that is defined as the text data type, the ntext data type, or the varchar(max) data type. You have an empty string stored in the column. In this scenario, the empty string is replicated as a NULL value when you synchronize the table to a SQL Server Compact Edition subscriber. Additionally, if the column is defined to disallow NULL values, you receive an error message that resembles the following:
HRESULT: DB_E_ERRORSINCOMMAND
Minor Error: SSCE_M_NULLINVALID (25005)
Source: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition OLE DB Provider
Description: The column cannot contain null values. [,,,ColumnName,TableName,]
Interface defining error: IID_ICommand

Param. 1: 0

Param. 3: c3
