Bug: #50000226 (SQLHotfix)
Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release. This article describes the following about this hotfix release: | • | The issues that are fixed by this hotfix package | | • | The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package | | • | Information about whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package | | • | Information about whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix package | | • | Information about whether you must make any registry changes | | • | The files that are contained in the hotfix package |

SYMPTOMSConsider the following scenario. You publish a table in SQL Server 2005. The table contains a column that is defined as the text data type, the ntext data type, or the varchar(max) data type. You have an empty string stored in the column. In this scenario, the empty string is replicated as a NULL value when you synchronize the table to a SQL Server Compact Edition subscriber. Additionally, if the column is defined to disallow NULL values, you receive an error message that resembles the following: HRESULT: DB_E_ERRORSINCOMMAND
Minor Error: SSCE_M_NULLINVALID (25005)
Source: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition OLE DB Provider
Description: The column cannot contain null values. [,,,ColumnName,TableName,]
Interface defining error: IID_ICommand
