Power consumption increases when you run a WPF-based program that runs an animation in Windows Vista

Consider the following scenario:

• You run a Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)-based program on a Windows Vista-based portable computer.
• The WPF-based program runs an animation.
• You are operating the computer on battery power.

In this scenario, the computer's power consumption unexpectedly increases. Therefore, the computer's battery power decreases more quickly than expected.

This problem occurs when an animation runs in a WPF-based program. This problem does not occur if you run a WPF-based program that does not run an animation.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section. This problem was first corrected in Windows Vista Service Pack 1.

This hotfix also fixes a problem in which the system time may differ from the BIOS time. However, the system time lag may not be resolved completely after you apply this hotfix. Several issues are known to cause this problem.
