SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats (Beta 2 Technical Refresh).
  • In Windows Explorer, you click Tools, and then you click Folder Options.
  • On the File Types tab, you select a 2007 Microsoft Office file type, such as DOCX, PPTX, or XLSX, in the list of file types.
  • You click Advanced.
In this scenario, the Browse in same window check box is unavailable in the Edit File Type dialog box.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Compatibility Pack does not support the file type setting Browse in same window. This file type setting is only available if you install a 2007 Office suite or program.
