Description of the Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 MUI

This article describes the installation packages for the Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) for the Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 (Terminal Services Client 6.0) for the following operating systems:

• Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2 (SP2)
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1 (SP1)

The Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 client update helps you use the new Terminal Services features that are introduced in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008 from a computer that is running Windows XP with Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2, or Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 1.

Windows XP with Service Pack 2

The MUI provides a user interface for the Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 client update that is installed on a computer that is running a 32-bit (x86-based) version of Windows XP with Service Pack 2 in the following languages:

• Arabic
• Chinese - Simplified
• Chinese - Taiwan
• Czech
• Danish
• Dutch
• Finnish
• French
• German
• Greek
• Hebrew
• Hungarian
• Italian
• Japanese
• Korean
• Norwegian
• Polish
• Portuguese - Brazil
• Portuguese - Portugal
• Russian
• Spanish - Spain
• Swedish
• Turkish

The MUI language packs run only on MUI versions of Windows in which the Windows interface can be displayed in multiple languages. If you are running an MUI version of Windows, first install the English version of the Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 (Terminal Services Client 6.0) client update, and then install the MUI for Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 (Terminal Services Client 6.0).

Installation folders

The files for each language are installed in the %windir%\System\locale folder and in the %windir%\Help\Mui\locale folder.

Note locale represents the folder for the language.

The %windir%\System\locale folder contains the binary files for the language. The %windir%\Help\Mui\locale folder contains the Help files for the language.

Update replacement information

This update does not replace any other updates.

Known issues

The Remote Desktop Connection shortcut text is always in English

After the Remote Desktop Connection 6.0 MUI is installed, the Remote Desktop Connection shortcut text on the Start menu always appears in English.
