Additionally, you receive the following error message: Discovered a v3 connection string and SPFarm.Local indicates that this machine is not joined. Therefore we failed to determine if we were joined to a server farm. CAUSEThis issue typically occurs if an incoming connection is made to the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 database during the upgrade process. RESOLUTIONNote Before you upgrade Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, make sure that you close Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager. Additionally, close any other sessions of Microsoft Management Console (MMC). To resolve this issue, restart Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), and then run Psconfig.exe.
