Error message when you click the Delegates tab in the Options dialog box in Outlook 2003 with Exchange Server 2003: "The delegates page is not available"

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, when you click the Delegates tab in the Options dialog box, you receive the following error message:
The delegates page is not available. Unable to access Outlook folders.
If you use the Active Directory Users and Computers tool to view the user account properties of the affected user, you can view the delegates.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, start Outlook by using the /cleanrules option. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Exit Outlook if it is running.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type outlook /cleanrules, and then click OK.

    Note The /cleanrules option removes message rules that you have configured in Outlook.

MORE INFORMATION

Delegates are stored as hidden messages in the user's mailbox. You may experience the problem that is described in this article even if you do not have any delegates configured in Outlook. Also, you may experience this problem if you try to access the Delegates tab for your mailbox from a different computer that is running Outlook.
