SYMPTOMS

You remove a 2007 Microsoft Office program from the computer. Alternatively, you install an update for a 2007 Office program. After you do this, you may be prompted to restart the computer. However, you might expect not to have to restart the computer.

CAUSE

This issue may occur because some programs may be using the file that is to be removed or updated. When another program is using the file, the file cannot be removed or updated. The file is removed or updated after you restart the computer.

For example, this issue may occur when any of the following programs are running on the computer:
  • Microsoft ActiveSync
  • Microsoft Office Communicator
  • Microsoft Office OneNote 2007

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, restart the computer when you are prompted.
