Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2005 fix release.

A computer that is running Microsoft SQL Server 2000 forwards an event to the Application log of a computer that is running Microsoft SQL
Server 2005. When the computer does this, SQL Server 2005 may not send a message notification that is based on
the specific string in the forwarded event. When this problem occurs, the following Error event may be logged in the Application log:
Failed to formate SQL Server message. Error
317
Note In this event, the word "formate" is a misspelling for the word "format."
This problem occurs because the message format that SQL Server
2000 uses differs from the message format that SQL Server 2005 uses. When SQL
Server Agent detects the different message format, SQL Server Agent logs the Error
event in the Application log. Therefore, the specific string is
not found in a message, and SQL Server 2005 does not send a message
notification.
