When you upgrade to a 2007 Microsoft Office program, the earlier version of the Microsoft Office program may not be removed.
Note When you upgrade, you would expect the earlier version of the Office program to be removed.

This issue may occur if the following conditions are true:
| • | The original installation source for the earlier Office program is unavailable. |
| • | Some files in the following folder were deleted, removed, or renamed: C:\Windows\Installer |

To work around this issue, follow these steps:
| 1. | Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs. |
| 2. | In the Currently installed programs list, click the earlier version of Office, and then click Remove. |
| 3. | Follow the prompts to remove the earlier version of Office. |
| 4. | Repair the 2007 Office program installation. To do this, follow these steps: | a. | Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs. | | b. | In the Currently installed programs list, click the installed version of the 2007 Office program, and then click Change. | | c. | Click Repair, and then click Continue. |

If an earlier version of an Office program is not removed when the 2007 Office program is installed, two versions of Microsoft Outlook may remain installed. If this occurs, Outlook may be unstable and may cause unpredictable results.
