Error message when you try to install a 2007 Office program: "Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component"

SYMPTOMS

When you install one of the 2007 Microsoft Office programs that are listed in the "Applies to" section, the installation is not completed successfully. Additionally, you receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {10CD20D2-733E-4174-9D02-2C6C26163DA5}.
Note The error message contains a global unique identifier (GUID) of an assembly that is contained in the 2007 Office program. The GUID in the error message may vary, depending on which assembly encounters the error.

CAUSE

This issue may occur when the Microsoft .NET Framework installation on the computer is damaged or is missing.

To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, as appropriate for your situation. Then, try to install the 2007 Office program again.

Method 1: Repair the Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 installation

To do this, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
2.In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, and then click Change/Remove.
3.Click Repair, and then click Next.

Method 2: Install the .NET Framework version 2.0

If a version of the .NET Framework is not installed on the computer, install the .NET Framework version 2.0. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Method 3: Reinstall the Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1

If the .NET Framework version 1.1 is installed, remove it, and then reinstall it.

To remove the .NET Framework version 1.1, follow these steps:
1.Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
2.In the Currently installed programs list, click Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 and then click Change/Remove.
3.Click Yes to uninstall the .NET Framework version 1.1.
To reinstall the .NET Framework version 1.1, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
