If one red light is flashing and you receive a different error message or code than those that are described earlier or you don’t receive an error message or code, your console may be experiencing a different issue. If this case, see "References/Links."

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a hardware failure in the Xbox 360 console.

THINGS TO TRY

  1. Turn off your console, and then disconnect and reconnect all the cables. Turn on the console again.
  2. If you have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive attached to your console, follow these steps:
    1. Turn off your console, and then remove the hard drive.
    2. Turn on your console again to see whether you still receive the error message.
    3. If you do not receive the error, turn off your console, and then reattach the hard drive. Turn on the console again.
Note You may have to try this procedure more than one time to make sure that you only receive the error message when the hard drive is attached.
  3. If you have an Xbox Memory Unit (MU) inserted into your console, follow these steps:
    1. Turn off your console, and then remove the MU.
    2. Turn on your console again to see whether you still receive the error message.
    3. If you do not receive the error message, turn off the console, and then reinsert the MU. Turn on the console again.
Note You may have to try this procedure more than one time to make sure that you only receive the error message when an MU is inserted.
  4. If you continue to experience this issue, contact Xbox Customer Service.
Note If the agent cannot help you resolve this issue, you must return the console to Microsoft for repair.
