Error message when you try to start the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of Excel 2007, of PowerPoint 2007, or of Word 2007: "There is not enough memory or disk space to run"

When you try to start the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of Microsoft Office Excel 2007, of Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007, or of Microsoft Office Word 2007, the program does not start. Additionally, you receive one of the following error messages:

This issue may occur if the original release version of the Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system is installed on the same computer as the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Microsoft Office programs. When this version of the Compatibility Pack is installed, the Mso.dll file is updated to version 12.4518.1014.0. This version is later than the Mso.dll file that is installed by the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Office programs. The Mso.dll file that is installed by the original release version of the Compatibility Pack is incompatible with the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Office programs.

To resolve this issue, remove the original release version of the Compatibility Pack. Then, repair the installation of the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Office programs. Alternatively, when it is available, install the final release version of the 2007 Microsoft Office programs. In this case, the original release version of the Compatibility pack will coexist on the same computer that has the original release version of the 2007 Office programs.

Note When you repair the installation, the earlier version of the Mso.dll file that is installed by the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Office programs is restored.

To remove the original release version of the Compatibility Pack and to repair the installation of the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Office programs, follow these steps:

1. Exit all 2007 Office programs.
2. Remove the Compatibility Pack. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
   2. Click Compatibility Pack for the 2007 Office system in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Remove.
   3. Click Yes to confirm that you want to remove the Compatibility Pack.
3. Delete the following files:
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\1033\Ppintl.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\1033\Xllex.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\1033\Xlintl32.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excelcnv.exe
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Excelcnvpxy.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Oartconv.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Wordcnv.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Wordcnvpxy.cnv
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Wordcnvr.dll
   • Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\Wordconv.exe
4. Repair the installation of the Beta 2 Technical Refresh version of the 2007 Office programs. To do this, follow these steps:
   1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Add or Remove Programs.
   2. Click Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007 (Beta) in the Currently installed programs list, and then click Change.
   3. Click Repair, and then click Continue.
5. Start Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, or Word 2007.
   
   If you receive the following message, click Yes:
   Microsoft Office program
   
   program failed to start correctly last time. Starting program in safe mode will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully start the program. Some functionality may be disabled in this mode.
   
   Do you want to start program in safe mode?
   Note The program placeholder is the name of the program that you are trying to start, such as Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, or Word 2007.
6. After you start the program in safe mode, exit the program. Then, restart the program as you usually do.
