Error message when you open a workbook that contains cells that you filled with a reference to a relative name in Excel 2007: "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources"

Consider the following scenario. In Microsoft Office Excel 2007, you create a workbook that contains a relative name. Then, in another new workbook, you press CTRL+ENTER to fill a range of cells with a reference to the relative name. You save the second workbook as an "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)" file and then close both workbooks. In this scenario, you receive the following error message when you reopen the second workbook: When you click OK to close the error message, you receive the following message: To determine the unique number that is associated with the message that you receive, press CTRL+SHIFT+I. The following number appears in the lower-right corner of this message: When you click Yes to recover the contents of the workbook, you receive the following error message again: Then, when you click OK to close the error message, you receive the following message:

To work around this issue, use one of the following methods:

• Open the workbook that contains the relative name first. Then, open the workbook that contains the reference to the relative name.
• Save both workbooks as Excel workbook files. To do this, click the Microsoft Office Button, click Save as, and then click Excel Workbook (*.xlsx) in the Save as type box.
