Some DVD players do not recognize a DVD that you create by using Windows Media Center on a Windows Vista-based computer

Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

Some DVD players do not recognize a DVD that you create by using Windows Media Center on a Windows Vista-based computer.

CAUSE

Windows Media Center creates a VIDEO_TS folder and an OpenDVD folder when you create a DVD in a Windows Vista environment. This behavior complies with DVD-V specifications. Most DVD players recognize DVDs that have the DVD-V format. However, some DVD players recognize only DVDs that have the DVD-R format. The DVD-R format does not use an OpenDVD folder.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, copy the files from the DVD-V-formatted disc to a local hard disk. Then, burn these files to a new DVD by using non-Microsoft software that does not create the OpenDVD folder.
