Article ID: 929542 - Last Review: December 28, 2006 - Revision: 1.4 Error message when you try to use the Create CD/DVD wizard to write to a DVD on a Windows Vista-based computer: "Insert Writable Media"
SYMPTOMSYou insert a blank DVD into the recordable DVD drive
of a Windows Vista based-computer and then try to use the Create CD/DVD wizard to write to the DVD. After you do this, you may receive the following error message: Insert Writable Media CAUSEThis issue may occur because the recordable DVD drive does not support
the type of DVD that you inserted. For example, some recordable DVD drives support only DVD+R discs
or DVD-R discs. These drives do not recognize DVD+RW discs or DVD-RW discs. See your
hardware documentation for more information about the type of DVD disc that
a DVD drive supports. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use the type of DVD that the recordable DVD drive
supports. For example, make sure that you use a DVD-RW disc in a drive that
supports DVD-RW. MORE INFORMATIONFor more information about DVD formats, visit the following
