Article ID: 929900 - Last Review: December 4, 2007 - Revision: 1.4 A software update is available that improves the tracing capabilities of Transaction Integrator Windows Initiated Processing internal tracing when you use persistent connections in Host Integration Server 2004
On This PageINTRODUCTIONThis article describes a software update for Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004. This update improves the tracing capabilities of Transaction Integrator (TI) Microsoft Windows Initiated Processing (WIP) internal tracing when you use persistent connections. You can turn on TI WIP internal tracing to help troubleshoot TI WIP issues. However, the trace data that TI WIP internal tracing captures does not include enough information to accurately troubleshoot issues that are related to persistent connections. Typically, a network tracing utility such as Microsoft Network Monitor is used together with the TI WIP internal tracing to troubleshoot issues that are related to TI WIP applications. After you apply this update, TI WIP internal tracing can capture additional persistent connection information. MORE INFORMATIONThe following is a list of some persistent connection information that TI WIP internal tracing can capture after you apply this update:
When you use persistent connections, updated trace statements may be included in the TI WIP trace log file. The following are examples of some updated trace statements:Note Other trace statements will be included in the TI WIP trace log file. Also, when you view a trace log file, the trace statements may not appear in this particular order. To turn on TI WIP internal tracing, follow these steps:
TI WIP internal tracing creates trace files in the Traces folder. The Traces folder is located in the folder where Host Integration Server 2004 is installed. For example, the default path of the Traces folder resembles the following: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Host Integration Server\Traces Note Turn off TI WIP internal tracing when you do not have to trace for troubleshooting. When TI WIP internal tracing is turned on, TI WIP internal tracing creates one trace file for each TI WIP process. If you leave TI WIP internal tracing turned on, the trace files may eventually consume lots of hard disk space. Additionally, TI WIP internal tracing may affect system performance.
