SYMPTOMS

When you shut down or restart a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 and that has a Bluetooth audio device connected, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
End Program: Tabtip.exe.
Ending Program: Please Wait.

CAUSE

In Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005, the Tabtip.exe process is synchronized with the Sapisvr 5 process (Sapisvr.exe). Information is saved when the processes end. However, when the Bluetooth audio device is connected, the busy condition for the device prevents the Tabtip.exe process from correctly synchronizing with the Sapisvr 5 process and from saving information. Therefore, the Tabtip.exe process stops responding.

RESOLUTION

Contact the manufacturer of the Bluetooth audio device to find out if an updated driver is available that resolves this problem.

WORKAROUND

To avoid this problem, disconnect the Bluetooth audio device before you shut down or restart the computer. If the problem has already occurred, click End now when you receive the error message.
