Chart data is deleted when you apply a template to an Excel chart in a 2007 Office program

When you apply a template to an Excel chart in a 2007 Microsoft Office program, the chart data is deleted. This problem occurs when you exit Microsoft Office Excel 2007 before you change the template of the chart.

To work around this problem, click Edit Data on the Design tab to open the worksheet that contains the chart data in Excel 2007. Do this before you apply a template to an embedded chart.

Note To use this workaround, you must have access to the data in a linked chart.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
