INTRODUCTION

When you try to use previously downloaded premium content, you cannot see or play the content by using your Xbox 360 console. This article contains steps that you can follow to try to fix the problem.

SYMPTOMS

You cannot view or play previously downloaded premium content that was downloaded on one Xbox 360 console and then moved to another console. Premium content includes these items:
  • Xbox LIVE Arcade games
  • Content from the Video Marketplace
  • Game maps
  • Game levels
  • Game objects

CAUSE

Usually, this problem occurs for one of the following reasons:
  • You are not signed in to Xbox LIVE, and you are trying to use premium content that is stored on a storage device, such as an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an Xbox 360 Memory Unit, on a console other than the console that you used when you purchased the content.
Note If you are not signed in to Xbox LIVE with the profile that originally purchased the content, that content does not appear or appears as "Trial (Demo)" only.
  • You are using a console that was repaired or exchanged, and the content is still licensed to the previous console.

THINGS TO TRY

Sign in to Xbox LIVE by using the profile that you used to purchase the content originally

To use the downloaded premium content on a different console than the console that the content was downloaded to, you will have to sign in to Xbox LIVE with your Gamertag and your Windows Live ID. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Connect the storage device that contains the premium content to the Xbox 360 console.
  2. Use your Gamertag and your Windows Live ID to sign in to Xbox LIVE. To do this, select your profile in the My Xbox area, and then select Connect to Xbox LIVE.
Note If you are connected to Xbox LIVE, you will see options for messages, account management, and other features, not the Connect to Xbox LIVE option.
  3. Access the content.

You may have to re-download the content to update the licenses

If you have had your console repaired or you used xbox.com/DRM to transfer licenses, the locally stored license may be out of date. To update the locally stored license, you must re-download the content. If you have recently had your Xbox 360 console repaired

During the repair process, licenses are automatically transferred to the repaired or replacement console. You have to re-download the content to update the locally stored license by following the steps that were described earlier.

If you are unable to use www.xbox.com/DRM (http://www.xbox.com/DRM) to transfer your content licenses to the repaired or replaced console, you may have to contact Xbox Support to start the process to have the licenses updated.
