Image transition issues in Windows Photo Gallery in Windows XP or in Windows Vista

When you view an image in Windows Photo Gallery in Windows XP or in Windows Vista, the image transition may be choppy.

This issue occurs because the monitor resolution is set to 1900 x 1200 pixels or higher.

To fix this problem, you have to modify the Windows registry to use a monitor resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. To do this, follow the appropriate steps for your operating system:

Windows XP

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry key:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Live\Photo Gallery\SlideShow
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type WinSATScore, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click WinSATScore, click Modify, click Decimal, type 400 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.

Windows Vista

1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry key:
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Photo Gallery\SlideShow
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type WinSATScore, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click WinSATScore, click Modify, click Decimal, type 400 in the Value data box, and then click OK.
6. Exit Registry Editor.
