This article contains a list of Microsoft Knowledge Base articles. These articles can help you troubleshoot error messages that you may receive when you use the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature to upgrade a version of Windows Vista to one that has additional features.

Note Windows Anytime Upgrade is available on the following editions of Windows Vista:
  • Windows Vista Home Basic
  • Windows Vista Home Premium
  • Windows Vista Business
  • Windows Vista Home Basic N
  • Windows Vista Business N

The Windows Anytime Upgrade feature lets you perform one of the following upgrade operations:
  • If you have Windows Vista Home Basic, you can upgrade to Windows Vista Home Premium or to Windows Vista Ultimate.
  • If you have Windows Vista Business, you can upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate.
Note You can use the Windows Anytime Upgrade feature only to upgrade a computer that is already running Windows Vista. Additionally, you must upgrade a 32-bit version of Windows Vista to another 32-bit version of Windows Vista or a 64-bit version of Windows Vista to another 64-bit version of Windows Vista.

Note To determine the version of Windows Vista that you are running, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start

    , type welcome center in the Start Search box, and then click Welcome Center in the Programs list.

    User Account Control permission
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
  2. In Welcome Center, examine the upper area for information about the version of Windows Vista that is installed.
When you upgrade to another version of Windows Vista, you may receive an error message. Use the following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles to help you troubleshoot the issue that you experience.
