The requirements for using the ODBC logging feature in Internet Information Services

This article describes some of the requirements for using the Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) logging feature in Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

In IIS, you can use the ODBC logging feature to log data in a local Microsoft Office Access database or in a remote Microsoft SQL Server database.

You can use the SQL Native Client ODBC driver to connect to a local SQL Server 2005 database or to a remote SQL Server 2005 database. However, when you use the ODBC logging feature in IIS and create a system data source name (DSN) by using the SQL Native Client ODBC driver, IIS may not insert all the data in the table. This issue occurs because the SQL Native Client ODBC driver is incompatible with IIS.

Microsoft does not support configuring the ODBC logging feature in IIS by using the SQL Native Client ODBC driver. You must use the SQL Server ODBC driver instead.
