SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft SQL Server 2005, an assertion violation that resembles the following may be logged in the SQL Server Errorlog file:
Error: 17066, Severity: 16, State: 1.
2007-01-09 18:02:19.52 spid54 SQL Server Assertion: File: <lckmgr.cpp>, line=8017 Failed Assertion = 'IsOrphaned () || GetHeadOfList (GrantQueue0) != NULL || GetHeadOfList (GrantQueue1) != NULL || GetHeadOfList (GrantQueue2) != NULL || GetHeadOfList (GrantQueue3) != NULL || LOCK_NOTIF_ONLY (GetHeadOfList (NotificationQueue) != NULL ||) foundIteratorMarker'. This error may be timing-related. If the error persists after rerunning the statement, use DBCC CHECKDB to check the database for structural integrity, or restart the server to ensure in-memory data structures are not corrupted.
This problem may also occur after you add more processors to a server that is running SQL Server 2005. This problem is known to occur on servers in which the number of logical CPUs is 9, 17, 18, 19, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, or 39.
