On This PageINTRODUCTIONThis article describes the Oobmig.exe tool. After you
install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Service Pack (SP2), the system does not trust binaries that are
installed by out-of-band updates. The Oobmig.exe tool
restores trust to these out-of-band updates. Note An out-of-band update is an update that Microsoft makes available outside the regular product shipment cycle. MORE INFORMATIONRestore processTo restore trust to a particular out-of-band update, the Oobmig.exe tool performs the following steps:
Command-line switchesOobmig.exe is a command-line tool. You can use command-line switches to control the behavior of this tool.The /? switchTo see the following syntax information, type Oobmig.exe /? at a command prompt:The /default switchThe Oobmig.exe tool can restore trust to out-of-band updates against a default list of updates. To use the default list, type Oobmig.exe /default at a command prompt. This default list includes the following out-of-band updates:Collapse this table
The /kb switchYou can also restore trust to a specific out-of-band update by specifying an update number. To do this, run the following command at a command prompt:oobmig.exe /kb <xxxxxx> Note The <xxxxxx> placeholder
represents a six-digit number for the out-of-band update that you specify.If you changed the default location of the $NtServicePackUninstall$ folder when you installed the service pack, you will receive the following error when you run the Oobmig.exe tool: Error, path C:\Windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$ does not exist %Windir%\$NtServicePackUninstall$ Then, copy the following files to the %Windir%\$NtServicePackUninstall$ folder. You can copy these files from the location that you specified for the uninstall directory when you installed the service pack.
