INTRODUCTION

Issue that the hotfix package fixes

This hotfix package fixes the following issue that was not previously documented in a Microsoft Knowledge Base article:

You browse a server that is running Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003. If you add a tilde ( ~ ) character in front of a page name and then browse to that page, the full file path on the server may be displayed in an error message.

Note An error message may not be displayed in this situation.

Prerequisites

You can install this version of the hotfix on a computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 2 or Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1. However, we have tested this hotfix more extensively on Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 2 than on Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1. If you install this hotfix on a computer that is running Windows SharePoint Services Service Pack 1, some file conflicts might occur. We support this configuration, but we do not recommend it.
